Broderick Nixon

My name is Broderick Nixon. As a motivational speaker with Cerebral Palsy and a person in a wheelchair, I feel it is my purpose to inspire those around me. I started a business, Dreams to Actuality because I hope to inspire and motivate others to follow their dreams as I follow my dreams. My story began when I was just a little boy diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy, which is a type of group disorder that affects the person's ability to move and maintain balance.

When I was a young boy, I would spend time on my grandparent's farm with my brothers and cousins. I always wanted to do what the other kids were doing, but because of my condition, I was not able to play like them.

My brothers and cousins had bicycles to ride around on the farm, and my grandpa saw how it made me sad since I could not ride a bicycle with the other kids. So, he came up with an idea. He saddled up one of his horses and told me, "This is your bicycle; now you do not have to peddle, just steer and say giddy-up horse."

That experience started a passion for horses and cattle that has remained to this day. It also gave me the confidence to do what others in my situation generally are not able to accomplish. I dreamed about going to college and being like everyone else who works hard, graduates, and makes a career for themselves. I made it an actuality and graduated with many experiences most people would not have anticipated me being able to do.

While at college and due to some of my struggles, I began to dream about motivating others like me. I worked with people, groups, and organizations that helped me towards my motivational speaking journey. Now, I have a motivational business and hopefully, soon I'll have a ranch of my own, all due to one man's idea to see me be able to play like the other kids.
